Dr. David L. Rockwell has been at Teal Group since 1995, where he is author of Teal's three new Military Electronics Briefing (MEB) segment briefings – C4I & Electronic Warfare Systems, Electro-Optical Systems, and Radar & Sonar Systems – as well as co-author of Teal's annual World Military Unmanned Aerial Systems: Market Profile and Forecast. He also contributes regular monthly military electronics News Briefs to the Teal Group website.
Between 1990 and 1995, Dr. Rockwell was an NSERC (National Science and Engineering Research Council) Project Leader at the University of Toronto, conducting research focusing on remotely sensed topographical analysis. He earned his Ph.D. in Geomorphology/Geography, an M.A. in Human Geography, and an M.A. and B.A. in Military History.
He has published more than 80 electronics forecast articles in various journals. From 2002-2014, he wrote the quarterly "Eye on Electronics" column for Aerospace America, the journal of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), and he has been a frequent contributor to the Journal of Electromagnetic Dominance (AOC), Unmanned Systems (AUVSI), and other journals. He was also responsible for the electronics chapters in Aviation Week & Space Technology's annual Aerospace Sourcebook from 1996 through 2004. He has been quoted in most major defense journals and news services and has been interviewed for radio and television concerning defense electronics issues. He has also published two books on combat aircraft for Harper Collins.
His numerous projects for industry include special studies and customized market forecasts. Clients include leading aerospace and defense companies such as BAE Systems, L3Harris, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon, and many others. Dr. Rockwell has taught international economics at universities in the United States (most recently at George Mason University in Virginia in 2021), Lithuania, and Ukraine (in 2018). He has been affiliated with the University of Cambridge and has conducted research for the University of Amsterdam and the University of Florence.
